What is Bonding?
Bonding is a process that is applied both to eliminate aesthetic defects and to eliminate problems in oral and dental health. The composite filling to be applied in the bonding process is selected in accordance with the tooth color, placed on the teeth and shaped.
A list of aesthetic conditions and health problems where bonding can be applied can be made as follows:
- Changing the shape of the teeth to have the desired tooth appearance,
- Treatment of cracks and fractures due to various reasons,
- Filling the spaces between the teeth,
- Treatment of dental caries,
- Enlarging the tooth sizes for an aesthetic appearance,
- Bleaching of yellowed or stained teeth.
In order to obtain maximum efficiency in terms of both aesthetics and health, the bonding process should be performed by a specialist and experienced physician.
How Is Bonding performed?
The steps applied during the bonding process are as follows:
- The tooth color to be applied during the bonding process is selected in accordance with the tooth color or according to the patient's preferences,
- To ensure that the bonding process adheres to the tooth better, the tooth surface is roughened,
- The pre-prepared composite filling is placed on the tooth and after shaping, it is hardened using laser,
- After the final shaping process is performed, the tooth is polished and the process is terminated.
